Nucleus

Nucleus is our vital and exciting contemporary theatre development platform, enabling leading theatre artists to share our resources, helping them develop and explore new ideas, creating works-in-progress leading towards innovative new productions.

Over the past two years the Nucleus programme has developed many projects in collaboration with emerging and established companies including Sweetscar, Dudendance, Lazzi, Teatru De Comedie (Bucharest), Ariel Theatr (Poland), Vox Motus and Gilmour Dance. 

CUMBERNAULD YOUTH THEATRE

Cumbernauld Theatre runs a vibrant and exciting Youth Theatre suitable from the age of five right up to twenty-one.

Classes focus on developing confidence, communication and social skills though story telling, role play and games. As children advance our aim is to provide a greater understanding of the many roles involved in putting on a theatre production, to aid Standard Grade and Higher drama students and anyone wishing to pursue a career in theatre.

While our younger groups learn the basics of performance and sometimes present short shows for family and friends at the end of the term, the older groups have the opportunity to be in full productions at Cumbernauld Theatre and also within other venues as parts of festivals such as the National Theatre of Scotland’s exchange programme.

We run ten drama classes from Saturday to Tuesday throughout the school year with over 250 participants - we truly are more than popular.
