Cumbernauld Theatre Company-in-Residence 2016/17
Applications for 2016/17 are now being processed and an announcement will be made soon.
In 2014/15, the Scottish new writing company Stoirm Og were Cumbernauld Theatre’s second Company-in-Residence. During their year long attachment the Company undertook development work on their recent Fringe and touring show Spectre Town in co-production with Cumbernauld Theatre.
The primary purpose of the Company-in-Residence programme is to provide support, mentoring and artistic development to a small scale Theatre or Performance company whose work would benefit from an extended period of attachment to a larger theatre organisation. Although there may be opportunities for a full co-production during/after the year-long residency, the focus of the programme is on the holistic development of the Company – organisationally and strategically as well as creatively – to support the long term sustainability and viability of theatre in Scotland. The Company-in-Residence suits a small, highly committed team of theatre/performance makers who are determined to succeed together not just for one or two projects but who see themselves building a Company that will last for a significant period of time and accordingly make a significant contribution to the art-form of theatre and of building audiences in Scotland.
The Company-in-Residence opportunity is only open to organisations that are formally registered (or are about to become so) as a Limited Company or a Community Interest Company or other recognised legal structure, although you do not have to have charitable status. The Company, and the majority of Company members, must also be resident full-time in Scotland. The opportunity is not available to those currently in full time education.
