Scotland Short Play Award 2019/20
OPEN CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS – GUIDELINES & TERMS
Following on from successful Awards in 2015 and 2017. Cumbernauld Theatre Company is pleased to announce an open call for submissions for the Scotland Short Play Award 2019-2020.
The award is designed both to encourage new and early career playwrights as well as encouraging established playwrights who wish to explore new forms of contemporary Scottish drama, theatre and performance.
The award also encourage submissions form writers who usually work in other literary forms and who are interested in the potential of the stage, and those from backgrounds and communities whose voices are not usually heard on stages in Scotland.
In the decision making process, the panel will have all due regards to Equalities & Diversity, recognising that writers from some communities have traditionally experienced higher levels of exclusion from the arts – this includes BAME writers, writers with a disability, and writers with a working class background.
Short plays which speak to those communities, and the experiences of those communities, will be given all due regard in the final decision making process.
The SSP2019/20 wishes to be inclusive in its practices, and the Company will seek to include diverse voices at all levels of decision making and representation.
We look forwards to reading all the fantastic submissions once again.
