Executive Director

 

Cumbernauld Theatre wish to recruit an ambitious, experienced and creative Executive Director to work closely with Ed Robson, the Artistic Director/Chief Executive.  You will help lead this vibrant organisation through an exciting period of transformation, as the Company prepares to leave its original ‘cottage theatre’ home for a new, £6m+ purpose-built Theatre and Arts Centre currently under construction and scheduled to open in autumn 2019.

 

The full-time position of Executive Director is a new role within the organisation.  The successful candidate will enjoy being fully involved in current operations, the forthcoming transition process, and in delivering the future operational growth model of the expanded new theatre which includes both a 300 seat Main Theatre, a 100 seat Studio Theatre, a Cinema and a Dance Studio.

Creative Learning Assistant

 

The role of Creative Learning Assistant is a part time role at 0.5FTE, which focusses upon our community engagement and outreach programmes, which can involve leading on our vibrant youth theatre classes, holiday projects, creative workshops within formal education and work with adults.

 

The role is managed by the Creative Learning Manager and would suit an experienced drama/theatre practitioner, with practical experience and an interest in creating contemporary new arts work with a variety of participatory groups.

Cumbernauld Theatre Trust: Chair

 

Due to increased business commitments our current Chair will be stepping down at the end of this financial year, following 9 years on the Board, with the last 4 years as Chair.

 

Cumbernauld Theatre therefore wish to appoint a new Chair to lead the Board and support the Senior Management team through an exciting period of transformation, as the Company prepares to leave its original ‘cottage theatre’ home for a new, £6m+ purpose-built Theatre currently under construction and scheduled to open in autumn 2019.

 

In autumn 2019, Cumbernauld Theatre will move to its new home, a purpose-built theatre and cinema off-site, approx. 1 mile from its current location, on a shared-campus development with Cumbernauld Academy. This will incorporate a 300-seat main stage performance space; 100 seat studio theatre; 100 seat specialist cinema; 30 capacity dance studio; excellent back of house and technical support facilities; and a licensed café.

 

We are looking for an articulate, passionate advocate for the power and potential of the arts to have genuine meaning and purpose in the lives of individuals and communities. You will be excited by the evident potential of significant expansion for this organisation in 2019 and onwards and will have the skills and experience to lead the Board and Senior Management team with a collaborative approach and confident in contributing to shared visions and goals.

 

The position is voluntary and unpaid.

 

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

  • Leadership capabilities or experience
  • Board or Committee experience
  • A commitment to the Arts in Scotland

 

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of organisational development
  • Experience of transition and managing change, including change related to re-location, capital development and/or business expansion
  • Experience of successful fundraising for development / working with fundraising professionals
  • Business, Charity, Legal, Financial, Marketing or Arts sector experience
