To Cumbernauld Theatre’s Spring 2012 Season Supporting Year of Creative Scotland 2012
2012 is the Year of Creative Scotland, and we are proud to be able to support the celebrations presenting the best in visiting companies, hosting residencies with the best in Scottish Theatre, growing our successful participatory programme and by continuing to deliver our very own Cumbernauld Theatre Company. Premiering in April will be that great Scottish swashbuckler, Kidnapped, which will then tour throughout Scotland. I am proud in the Year of Creative Scotland to present Cumbernauld Theatre Company as a force within Scottish Theatre.
Following our fantastic Autumn Season which concluded with the hugely popular Christmas classic, Cinderella, this Spring we promise a jam packed schedule of drama, dance, comedy, music and family theatre that will ensure you don’t have to go hunting for your TV remote to be entertained.
After the huge success of Decky Does a Bronco in 2010, we are excited to welcome back site-specific award winners Grid Iron with their dynamic production Barflies. The truly unique performance will take place in the intimate setting of our newly refurbished Theatre Bar, and tickets are extremely limited so we recommend you book quickly.
As part of our continued work as a Centre for Creative Collaboration, we are also pleased to be able to welcome Visible Fictions for a week-long residency, culminating in their take on the terrific adventure Jason and The Argonauts.
For our younger audience we have the return of Starcatchers with The Attic and following the success of Lost Sock Princess, The Puppet Lab present Funny Bones.
Speaking of funny, if a bit of comedy is what you’re after Craig Hill, will be making an appearance in February and check out the hilarious Harry Morris, with his one-man show Harry the Polis.
As if this isn’t enough, we are also excited to be launching our very own Thursday Film Club. So, whether you like to get involved as a participant, or attend as an audience member, I am confident that we are kicking off the Year of Creative Scotland with a strong season of works to suit every taste. In fact, it’s so busy you may not want to leave….
I look forward to welcoming you back to join in the celebrations.
